چکیده

When reservation-based service differentiation is offered in an IP network, it is crucial for a network provider to appropriately charge for service invocations. For internal calculation as well as external price representation, a notion of costs and prices for communication services is needed. In this paper, general requirements for cost and price calculation are analysed for packetswitched multi-service networks. We conclude that internal price calculation should be linear, based on resource usage and uniform across multiple service classes. Accordingly, we specify refinements for service class definitions and present a price calculation method for the IETF’s Integrated Services architecture. The application of such a price representation to existing pricing and charging approaches is shown. Finally, certain economic aspects of the Guaranteed service class are analysed and the results are expressed using linear price representation.

The Calculation of the output price vectorby applying reverse linear programming: The novel approach in DEA

In the today’s world wherein every routine is based on economic factors, there is no doubt that theoretical sciences are driven by their capabilities and affordances in terms of economy. As a mathematical tool, data envelopment analysis (DEA) is provided to economics, so that one can investigate associated costs, prices and revenues of economic units. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is a linear...

Competition, complementarity and service level guarantee in Web services

Network and processing overhead associated with web services is a significant challenge to its performance. As a result, web service providers often announce a service level agreement. This ensures that consumers, who pay for the service, can get the service at a given quality level. In this paper, we study the competition between two providers offering functionally the same web services, whe...

Web Service Providers\' Game on Price and Service Level

Response time is one of the critical web service quality dimensions. It refers to how long it takes that a web service responds to request of a user. In order to manage the response time, pricing schemes can work as an efficient access control mechanism. In this paper, we study competition between two providers offering functionally same web services where there is a monopoly service provider...

Management of Efficient Service Provision in Distributed Systems

The increase in service provision over the internet as well as the trend to establish global open service markets supply a basis for business scenarios in which e-commerce applications become more and more important. To survive in the arising competition situation between different service providers, services have to be offered not only in a wide range and for a suitable price, but additionally...

Cost and Price Calculation for Internet Integrated Services

Charging schemes are needed to protect an integrated services network from arbitrary resource reservations and to create a funding mechanism to extend network capacity at the most desired locations at the expense of those users that actually use these resources. While not being the only input into pricing and charging, cost calculation is an important part of a charging scheme. In this paper, w...
